PUDUCHERRY: The biennial Auroville Film Festival is back for the second time. From September 29 to October 3, 122 films will be screened at MMC Auditorium/Cinema Paradiso, Bharat Nivas, and Sadhana Forest . The festival will see films of different genre made by residents and students. Films about Auroville and the bioregion will also be screened. Under “Human Unity”, the audience will be exposed to films of different genres, countries and languages put together based on viewer recommendation. ‘Miya Mahadevan’, ‘Home’, and ‘The Economics of Happiness’ will be screened. Viewers can also interact with the filmmakers and judges, thanks to Auroville Radio and TV. ‘Standard Time’ by Mark Formanek, produced by Datenstrudel Berlin in co-production with Bigfish GmbH is a film shot continuously for 24 hours recording the building of a digital time display made of wood (involving 1,611 changes in 24 hours). So its not just a film, but also a clock. A multimedia exhibition called ‘Mutation in Progress’ by five artists, ‘Faces’ an art installation by students from Transition School, a photo gallery of the previous festival and the filmmaking workshop which lead to the present festival will be on display. Film enthusiasts can catch this outside the Cinema Paradiso, Town Hall Reception area, Sri Aurobindo Auditorium Foyer and the Gallery Square Circle at Bharat Nivas.
