The heritage sanctuary of Kaziranga is reeling under flood as almost half of Assam is hit by torrential rainfall.
Kaziranga (Assam): After incessant rain in Kaziranga, an elephant was found dead on Sunday. Reports said that a herd of elephants were forced to leave the forest area due to heavy flooding. The elephant was said to be injured for the last couple of days.

Over 70 per cent of the lush forests was swamped by water following incessant rains in the hills. The animals have been forced to move to the highlands even as a few of them have perished in the strong tides. The local administration was trying to contain the damage and has restricted movement on the national highway
