THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: William S Pinckney, MD and CEO of Amway, India, here on Monday said that the allegations raised by people who have led a smear campaign against the company, are completely false and baseless.  Addressing a press conference here, William S Pinckney said that the police raids followed by the closing down of eight offices of the company in the state, was disappointing.  He also denied charges that the company had closed down its business operations in states such as Andhra Pradesh and the revenue generated from the country was being siphoned abroad to pay off the distributors outside the country.  People started raising complaints against the company about nine years ago when most of their products remained unsold.  “Had the consumers approached the company, they would have been refunded as Amway offered a comprehensive 100 per cent money-back guarantee,”  he said.  Yoginder Singh, senior vice- president, Legal and Corporate Affairs, Amway, said that the police had conducted raids in their offices without any prior notice and had sealed them.  This has affected the livelihood of over 40,000 people, including their employees and distributors who relied on the company. Pankaj Vassal, vice-president, south, Amway, and S Viswanath, corporate communications head, were also present.
