Akaash Vani: Can a 'Chandigarh ka launda' win hearts?
Akaash Vani: Can a 'Chandigarh ka launda' win hearts?
Kartik Tiwari says his character doesn't differentiate between boys and girls when it comes to saying silly things.

New Delhi: Kartik Tiwari was supposed to become an engineer but his passion for films steered him to Mumbai, the city of dreams. Director Luv Ranjan's 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' turned out to be a surprise hit and Kartik gained fame for his frustrated speech in the film. His second film 'Akaash Vani' is hitting the screens on January 25. The actor throws some light on the content of 'Akaash Vani' in a candid conversation with IBNLive.

Q: We hear you are playing an extrovert in the film?

A: I am playing a typical 'Chandigarh ka launda' in 'Akaash Vani' who is bold to the point of being shameless and very outspoken. He speaks whatever comes to his mind. He doesn't differentiate between boys and girls when it comes to saying silly things. Akaash has explored a lot in life and is very close to his father. He is dominating sort of a guy, I mean even if he is going to drink for the first time his father would have invited him to drink.

Q: But the film is based in Delhi.

A: I come to Delhi for higher studies and take admission in St. Stephens where I meet Vani and their love story starts.

Q: How is your role in 'Akaash Vani' is any different from 'Pyaar ka Punchnama'?

A: I played a submissive guy in 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' who used to listen to everyone while Akaash is someone who anchors the conversation. Rajjo would listen to Liquid, Neha, Chaudhary but Akaash wouldn't let anyone dominate him, he is the master of his own soul.

There is just one similarity between Rajjo and Akaash that they loved Neha and Vani like anything.

Q: There were other actors to ease the pressure off your shoulders in 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama', but this time you are the solo lead.

A: (Laughs) Aap toh dara rahe ho (You are scaring me). Well, I never thought that way, 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' happened somehow, similarly 'Akaash Vani' bhi bante bante ban gayi (somehow it got made), so I never realised the pressure you are talking about.

Expectations are there but this also gives us the confidence but I am hoping that the people will connect with 'Akaash Vani' as well, it also has a real content.

Q: 'Akaash Vani' is releasing alongside 'Race 2'.

A: (laughs) Fir se dara rahe ho aap (You are hell bent on making me scared). 'Race 2' is a film with bigger starcast but 'Akaash Vani' is a totally different film. The USP of 'Akaash Vani' is that it's an out and out romantic film, I think word of mouth publicity is going to be very important for us.

Q: Your chemistry with Nushrat is quite visible in the promos as well.

A: I was always good at chemistry you see. I think it's spontaneous as I was an engineering student. It's been two and a half years since I know Nushrat and the team is same as well. I know her strong and weak points and vice versa probably that's why the bond is visible.

Q: Is 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' sequel coming anytime soon?

A: Sequel will start soon may be in this year itself but only makers can give any confirmed information.
