2 feared drowned in Krishna river

VIJAYAWADA: Two youths are feared drowned in Krishna river at Prakasam Barrage on Sunday. Krishnalanka inspector Srinivasa Rao said S Siva Kumar (21) of Machavaram, a van driver, and MD Zakir Hussain (17) of Gunadala, an RTA agent, went to the river for a swim along with four others.  The two youths were washed away as the irrigation officials lifted some crest gates of the barrage to let out heavy inflows.  Nine divers and two boats were pressed into service to trace the youths who went missing at the Prakasam Barrage on Sunday.
