Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed hope that 15 lakh jobs will be created in the next three years under the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu (RYK) scheme, despite several hurdles in its implementation.
During his inaugural address at a one-day national workshop on ‘skill development: opportunities and challenges’ here on Friday, he said that there is a need for fine-tuning the programme further to achieve its objective.
The chief minister said that the government’s focus is on identifying the jobs that might be available in the next 10 years and make suitable changes in the curriculum.
“We are spending around Rs 3,500 crore on scholarships and fee reimbursements every year. We also gave around Rs 774 crore for skill upgradation this year.
Other job opportunities in animal husbandry, horticulture and related sectors are being explored,” he said.
Recalling his experience during the Indiramma Bata programme in East Godavari and Srikakulam districts, he said it was impressing to find the entrepreneurship of SHGs women in rural areas.
