Appiah out as Ghana coach after two years
The Ghana Football Association says it "agreed to mutually part ways" with Appiah at a meeting on Friday.

Accra, Ghana: Kwesi Appiah has left his position as Ghana coach, nearly three months after failing to guide the national team out of the group stage at the World Cup in Brazil.

The Ghana Football Association says it "agreed to mutually part ways" with Appiah at a meeting on Friday. A severance package will be discussed next week.

Appiah, who was in charge of Ghana for two years, oversaw a disappointing World Cup campaign marred by a threatened player mutiny over bonus payments and the suspensions of key players Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng for disciplinary reasons.

Ghana picked up just one point from three matches and failed to get out of its group for the first time at a World Cup.
