Union Public Service Commission Prelims 2024 is going to be conducted on June 16. UPSC aspirants are busy preparing for the upcoming exams. During this time, useful tips go a long way to help crack the test. A few general tips are to not take up a new topic and instead continue to revise the old ones. The key to the examination is strategising your studies. Here are a few tips from some IAS and IFS officers which you can keep in mind.
Indian Forest Officer (IFS) Officer, Himanshu Tyagi is a resident of Dehradun. He scored 69 per cent in 10 passed the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and enrolled in IIT Roorkee. He prepared for UPSC while he had a full-time government job and secured All India Rank 25. He advised UPSC aspirants to keep a sharp eye on current affairs while preparing for the Prelims. He also asked them to have faith in themselves and not be afraid of working hard.
Ayushi Pradhan cracked the UPSC exam in three attempts along with training in Indian Defence Estates Services (IDES) and secured 36th rank in India. As per Ayushi, she believes that one must have confidence in oneself to pass the test. She further urged UPSC aspirants to revise their notes frequently. She also recommended going through previous years’ question papers.
Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Raj Kamal Yadav cracked UPSC in 2012 and secured 21st rank in the country. He advised that UPSC aspirants should prioritise their health in the summer season. As per him, falling ill before the exam can lead to all the hard work going down the drain. Further, he strongly recommended revising for the exams. To increase confidence, he advised aspirants to focus on their favourite topics. He added that Prelims is just a qualifying paper and hence it is important to score more marks than the cut-off.
Further, Himanshu Nagpal IAS officer from Haryana is currently working as Chief Development Officer in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He studied in Hindi medium and despite his weak command of English language, he did not let it become an obstacle. He had secured 26th rank and cracked UPSC at the age of just 22 in his first attempt. He too asked aspirants to focus on revision. He also suggested practising and not panicking in the exam centre. For good health, he recommended keeping oneself hydrated, eating plentiful fruits and getting proper sleep.
IAS Srushti Jayant Deshmukh, resident of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. After abstaining from an engineering degree, the IAS officer secured 5th rank in the 2018 UPSC exam. She was the first female topper of her batch. She urged aspirants to understand the syllabus and exam pattern while preparing for Prelims. She suggested that solving previous years’ question papers will help them understand the pattern better.
