Musheer Khan turned out to be the saviour for India B after the side faced a batting collapse in the Duleep Trophy opener against India A. The 19-year-old arrived at the crease at number three following the dismissal of captain Abhimanyu Easwaran. While Musheer showed his resilience in facing the opposition pacers, wickets kept falling at the other end. The other India B opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, returned to the pavilion a few overs later.

The next five batters, including Musheer’s elder brother Sarfaraz Khan, managed a single-digit score. The U-19 star looked to be in no mood to give up as he joined hands with Navdeep Saini and went on to score an unbeaten century.

India B had lost no more wickets at the end of Day 1 in Bengaluru. Musheer took time to settle at the crease and hit his first boundary after facing 66 balls. He breached the triple-figure mark in 205 deliveries and completed his century with a single off Kuldeep Yadav.

Musheer Khan had not been troubled much till the end of the day. When he got to his hundred, Sarfaraz Khan was visibly proud of his younger brother. He was up on his feet and was captured celebrating the moment with his India B teammates emphatically.
