Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli brought up 3000 runs at the home ground of the Bengaluru-based franchise, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, during the side’s IPL 2024 clash against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday.
Kohli opened the innings alongside skipper Faf du Plessis in the crunch game and put up a quick stand of 31 runs in 3 overs before the game was halted due to rain.

Kohli leads the race in terms of runs scored by a player at a single venue as he notched up 3005 runs at the Karnataka Stadium. He is followed by Rohit Sharma on the list with his 2295 runs at the Wankhede, the homes ground of his beloved Mumbai Indians. Kohli’s former teammate AB de Villiers comes in third with 1960 runs at the Chinnaswamy, thanks to his many incredible knocks at the RCB stadium.
The fixture is poised as a virtual knockout in the tournament with the fourth spot in the playoff race up for grabs.
CSK are placed better to go through to the playoffs of the money-rich tournament as they need to just ensure a victory to go through. However, RCB need to win by at least 18 runs to manage a playoff position.

RCB have momentum on their side coming into the game on the back of five straight wins after a horrendous start to the tournament. Chennai, on the other hand, have had a start-stop season but managed to remain in the race for the top four with wins towards the end phase of the tournament.
