Quiet opening for markets, Sensex up 50 points
The 30-share index, which had lost more than 380 points in the past three sessions, has recovered just 49.96 pts.

New Delhi: In yet another quiet opening the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark, Sensex recovered just 49.96 points in early trade on Friday.

The 30-share index, which had lost more than 380 points in the past three sessions, was trading at 14,071.27 points in first five minutes of trading.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange Nifty was up by 12.35 points at 4,052.35.

Major support came in from stocks like Reliance Industries, Hindustan Lever, Infosys Technologies, Larsen and Toubro, HDFC Bank and HDFC Ltd.

Meanwhile, stocks of Power Finance Corporation were listed on the bourses and opened notably higher at Rs 104 and surged to Rs 117 against the offered price of Rs 85. Over one crore shares changed hands on the bourses.

Asian markets were trading mixed. Hong Kong's Hang Seng tumbled 0.87 per cent or 181.07 points at 20,628.16. South Korea's Seoul Composite was down 0.29 per cent or 4.3 points at 1,461.11. However, Singapore's Straits Times was up 0.10 per cent or 3.30 points at 3,292.15.
