Siddaramaiah, Cong Min's 'Fun Moments' in Luxury Pvt Jet Amid K'taka Drought Spark Row; BJP Reacts
The Bharatiya Janata Party's Karnataka unit criticised Congress for flaunting luxury at a time when the state is reeling under a financial crisis and drought-like situation.

Congress found itself amid a raging political controversy after a Karnataka minister flaunted his luxurious private aircraft while travelling to Delhi with Chief Minister Siddaramiah to seek drought relief for the state from the Centre.

Karnataka Congress minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan recently posted a video of himself along with Chief Minister Siddaramiah on board the aircraft. In the clip, the minister can be seen posing and smiling in different spots.

The video also shows other ministers and Siddaramaiah smiling for the pictures as they were on their way to Delhi to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Karnataka unit was quick to take note of the video and criticised Congress for flaunting luxury at a time when the state is reeling under a financial crisis and drought-like situation.

Terming CM Siddaramaiah as ‘Majawadi’, BJP wrote on X, “Severe drought has come in the state and people are suffering due to financial hardship. Congress came to power but six months later, not even a single pothole sealing work has been done.”

“This avatar is proof that Majawadi Chief Minister is emasculating the poor people of the country while having fun inside a private jet on people’s tax money,” the BJP added.

Meanwhile, CM Siddharamaiah lashed back at the BJP and asked them what place PM Modi flew in and why no on raised questions then.

“In which aircraft does Modi fly? Isn’t it a luxury aircraft? Irrespective of the situation in the country, which aircraft does he fly in? BJP should question that first,” Siddaramaiah said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and requested him to sanction early drought relief of Rs 18,177.44 crore to the state.

Siddaramaiah said a central meeting of the high-level committee should be convened at the earliest to approve the drought relief for Karnataka, an official statement said.

The CM informed in the meeting that the small and marginal farmers are more impacted because of the drought in 223 taluks out of 236 in the state. The crops sown in 48.19 lakh hectares of farmland have been impacted.
