In a move to provide a better transport system in the city, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is all set to kickstart the service on the remaining stretch of the Purple Line metro, starting next month. Earlier, both the stretches were planned to be introduced in phases by the concerned authorities. However, the plan was dropped later, which somehow saved a big chunk of cost and expenses.
Reacting about the same, a senior official from the BMRCL said, “Earlier, we had plans to open the two stretches in phases as the safety inspection date wasn’t scheduled and we’d anticipated a delay. With CMRS fixing the safety inspection date for the Kengeri-Challaghatta line on September 29, it is better to wait for that to be completed and then decide on opening the entire line from Challaghatta to Kadugodi (Whitefield).”
Purple Line Stretches Safety Clearance
The decision to give the green signal to these remaining stretches comes after receiving the safety authorization from the Comssioner of Metro Railway Safety ( CMRS) AM Chowdhary.
Kengeri to Challaghatta Stretch
The report says that the first stretch, which connects the Byappanahalli to KR Pura, has already received the safety clearance by AM Chowdhary, and is all set to kickstart the service for commercial use. Amid this, CMRS is also scheduled to conduct a safety inspection for the second stretch, which connects the Kengeri to
Challaghatta, on September 29.
Entire 43 km long Purple Line
It has been reported that once the above-mentioned stretches fall under the operational category, the whole 43 km long Purple Line will become fully functional, and will provide a great relief to all the metro commuters, office goers and the general public to have a seamless travel experience without investing too much time.
