Several airlines issued a travel advisory for passengers in the wake of the call for ‘Bengaluru Bandh‘ on September 26 given by pro-Kannada outfits, political groups and farmers’ associations protesting the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. Follow LIVE
Multiple airlines including IndiGo, Vistara, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet have issued a travel advisory for passengers travelling to the Kempegowda International Airport as transport is likely to be hit across the city.
IndiGo, in a statement, asked passengers to reach the airport at least 2.5 hours prior to the departure.
“Travel time to #Bengaluru airport may take longer than normal due to Bandh declared in #Bengaluru. We recommend arriving at least 2.5 hrs before domestic and 3.5 hrs before international departures,” the airline posted on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter).

Akasa, on the other hand, noted that “public transport facilities for travel to and from the airport” might be affected due to the ‘Bandh’ and advised passengers to reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to the departure.
“Due to the Bandh declared in Bengaluru on 26 Sep 2023, there may be an impact on public transport facilities for travel to and from the airport.
To ensure a seamless experience, we recommend that you plan for extra travel time and reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to the departure of your Akasa Air flight.
In case you choose not to travel to or from Bengaluru on 26 Sep 2023, you may request to be rebooked on an alternate, available flight at no additional cost, by calling our Akasa Care Centre on +91 9606 112131” a statement by Akasa read.

SpiceJet and Vistara Airlines also urged passengers to plan travel their travel keeping in mind the curbs on public transport due to the ‘Bandh’ to avoid any hassle.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus services are likely to be affected across the city on Tuesday after the KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation extended support to the ‘Bengaluru Bandh’.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda on Monday said that prohibitory orders under section 144 will be in effect across the city from September 25 midnight to September 26 midnight in the wake of the ‘Bandh’.
