Cars, taxis, light motor vehicles, minibuses, and two-axle buses are permitted a maximum speed of 100 kilometres per hour. However, speed restrictions of 40 kmph will be enforced during the ascent and descent of the bridge, emphasizing safety measures.
Entry Restrictions and Route Changes
To streamline traffic flow, multi-axle heavy vehicles, trucks, and buses heading towards Mumbai are not allowed on the Eastern Freeway. Instead, these vehicles must use the Mumbai Port-Sewri Exit (Exit 1C) and navigate the MBPT Road near ‘Gadi Adda’ for further movement.
Vehicle Type Restrictions
In a bid to ensure safety, specific vehicle types such as motorcycles, mopeds, three-wheelers, autos, tractors, animal-drawn vehicles, and slow-moving vehicles are explicitly prohibited from entering the MTHL.

Car commuters will be charged a toll of Rs 250, following the Maharashtra Cabinet’s approval of the toll proposal. Initially suggested at Rs 500, the toll was revised by the Urban Development Department to Rs 250, considering various factors.
