New York: On the last leg of his trip, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Mexican President Enrique Nieto and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of the UN Peacekeeping Summit.
In his meeting with Mahmoud Abbas, Modi brought up the issue of Indians held hostage in Iraq and Libya. President Abbas said that the hostages are alive.
"Indians who were held hostage in Iraq and Libya were discussed by Prime Minister with the President of Palestine. The President said that they think the hostages are alive and will update us as and when there is more information," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.

MEA officials said that Modi and Nieto invited each other to their respective countries.
"Prime Minister Modi and Mexican President discussed how bilateral relation can be taken further. Both invited the other to their nation. The two agreed that the two Foreign Ministers should meet to finalise a plan of action for taking the bilateral relation further," said Swarup.
