There is a huge difference between being a dog parent and a cat parent. Dogs can be trained to follow your commands and behave accordingly. But cats are unpredictable. Even if you train them, they turn a deaf ear to your instructions in most cases. Felines engage in mischief and hiss back when you offend them. However, research has claimed that cats are smart compared to dogs. A similar demonstration was seen in a now-viral video where a cat initially believed to be fooling around was later found out to be trying to catch a rat, that sneakily entered a toaster.
The video was originally dropped on Instagram on March 28. It captured a spotted pet cat stooping below the hollow openings of a toaster. It seemed to watch keenly on what was inside. The animal’s paws were inside the toasting slot as it eagerly tried to spot something inside. On the surface, it would appear to any common person that the cat was just poking fun as seen in many similar videos doing the rounds on the internet. But the truth was revealed sometime later. The cat dug its paws into the toaster opening as if trying to move something.

In a matter of seconds, it was unveiled that a rat had crawled inside the toaster. During the digging process, the rodent popped out from the kitchen tool. Although it attempted to make a narrow escape from its predator, the cat’s swift reflex rendered the rat’s efforts futile. As soon as the tiny creature tried to scurry away, the feline with a swift pounce grabbed the rat by its mouth. The cat leapt down the table gracefully, succeeding in the feat. “I thought he was just playing around until…” read the caption.
Social media users were impressed by the cat’s feat and reacted to the video. Citing a famous quote one individual wrote, “No one believes in you; believe in yourself.” “When a cat is busy chasing something, never doubt it,” opined another. A person called the cat a “professional toaster inspector”.
So far, the video has amassed over 18.5 million views and more than 1.1 million likes.
