A Bengaluru techie, who has spent over nine years in the industry, has now turned into a food delivery agent. Namrata Singh, a product manager, said that she has a massive appreciation for how much hard work goes into each order reaching our doors. She summed up her experience in a long post on LinkedIn, highlighting various security measures the Food delivery company has in place to ensure the orders reach the customers without any problem.
Namrata wrote that she has always been a fan of big companies that generate employment for the less educated and lower-income groups. “Homegrown brands like Swiggy, Ubran Company, Zomato, Blinkit and Ola have created multiple jobs for the lesser educated segment in India and this is going a long way in improving the economy of our country,” she wrote in her LinkedIn post.
She stated that she has always been curious to know about how technology is used to fuel the supply end, and that’s what made her try working as a food delivery agent.
Sharing her experience, Namrata revealed that when she gets an order, she exactly knows how much distance she will have to cover from her location to the restaurant and then to the delivery location. The most important element provided on the page was the amount the delivery agent would be receiving after successfully delivering the order to the customer.
She also stated that, once the delivery agent has accepted the order, she has to mark her status when she reaches the pickup location, and when she has collected the order and when she has successfully delivered it.
To ensure safety measures, the food delivery agent has to post a picture of herself in the Swiggy uniform whenever she reaches the delivery location.
“When the delivery is completed, almost half of the screen is used to show the amount earned, which serves as an instant reward for the hard work,” she added.
Moreover, for the safety of all the delivery agents, the app also has an SOS button to reach out in any case of accident, mishap or emergency.
Namrata concluded her post by saying, “I have immense gratitude for every delivery agent who toils through heat, rain, pollution and traffic to make our lives so much easier! Post this short stint, I now have a massive appreciation for how much hard work goes into each order reaching our doors!”
The post has gathered hundreds of likes since it was shared and several users swamped the comment section and shared their reactions.
A user commented, “The best and real-time example of walking in somebody’s shoes to understand their challenges.” Another user wrote, “Wow This is insightful!!. It’s inspiring that you tried it before writing about it.”
