The Kannada film Kerebete made its debut last week on March 15, amidst high anticipation from its creators. While critics and some prominent figures in Sandalwood commend its unique storyline, the movie has yet to gain traction among audiences as it enters its second week in theatres.
Gowrishankar, the film’s protagonist, remains optimistic about its prospects, expressing his determination to persevere until it gains wider recognition. He was quoted saying, “It is my fight till the end,” expressing his disappointment with the film’s reception and urging his fans to support and promote it.
Renowned Kannada actor Dhruva Sarja has endorsed the film after watching it, encouraging others to lend their support to its release. Additionally, Sandalwood star Prem watched the film with his family and lauded its quality, urging audiences not to miss out on the opportunity to see it in theatres.
During its release week, Kerebete faced stiff competition from Jackie, a re-release starring Puneeth Rajkumar, which garnered more attention from audiences. However, reports indicate that Kerebete is gradually gaining momentum in its second week, thanks to support from Kannada stars and Gowrishankar’s noteworthy performance.
Expressing his confidence in the film’s prospects for the week ahead, Gowrishankar stated, “I will continue to fight until the film reaches the people.” More Kannada stars such as Chaithra J Acahar and Ajay Rao have also watched the film, lending their support to its release.
Released on March 15, Kerebete delves into the culture of a popular fishing event in Malnad, Karnataka, known as lake hunting. In a pre-release interview, Gowrishankar highlighted the film’s portrayal of the lifestyle and rustic charm of the people involved in this event. Directed by Rajguru, the film features Gowrishankar, Bindhu Shviaram, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Harini, and Sampath Maitreya in pivotal roles.
