Trending: Employee Takes Month-Long Vacation To Italy Without Boss Finding Out
Despite the lack of interest, the employee finds it hard to leave the job. Reason? The steady income and flexible policies.

After the pandemic, the corporate culture continues to witness changes with complex schedules and remote work policies taking the main stage. While the relationship between a boss and his employees is primarily based on trust, sometimes people tend to misuse it. The case in point here centres around an employee who routinely fakes his daily tasks by quickly doing the bare minimum. The employee indulges in “quiet vacationing”.

In an essay detailed by Business Insider, the employee revealed how he fooled his boss and managed to use just one week of paid time off for a month-long vacation. Revealing what a normal day of work for him looks like, he shared, “I typically work between one to three hours a day, depending on the amount of meetings I have. Many of my colleagues fudge our tasks, choosing to do the smallest amount possible to get them done. The only exception for me is when something is important to my boss or their friends. Then I’ll do a better job.”

Despite his lack of interest, the employee found it hard to leave the job. These reasons were, a steady income and flexible policies. The employee has become a pro at “quiet quitting” which eventually culminated in a trip to Italy. Sharing how he managed to stay away from his job without even letting his boss know, he admitted, “I’d log on in the morning, check my emails and messages, and plan my day around any meetings I had.”

To create the impression that he is busy and very active in the group, the employee used a mouse jiggler which made him visible on the internal communications platform. Further, he made sure to keep up his appearance by responding to random messages and emails.

So far no one has raised any suspicion that the employee is slacking and taking time off. He mentions that even though all workers are meant to be in the office once a week, this policy is not strictly enforced. He shares that the possibility of getting caught lives in the back of his mind. However, if he gets caught, he plans to be upfront with the boss and say “I do my job. What more do you want?”
