Being a parent is not an easy job. Apart from tending to the needs of your kids, you also have to put up with their tantrums. Children often throw tantrums to show that they are upset or frustrated and sometimes to get things done their way. While proper discipline and strict parenting can help kids control their sudden outbursts, parents often struggle to deal with such situations. Recently, the uncontrollable tantrums thrown by four children forced an Australian ice cream and cafe owner to throw the family out of the eatery. Although the kids’ mother objected to the action, the internet community turned out to be in favour of the owner.
According to a report by the New York Post, another fellow customer who witnessed the incident dropped a video of the Italian cafe and gelateria named Adelle’s Cafe in Magnetic Island on social media, asking for the shop’s boycott. They claimed that the shop’s co-owner Adrian Dalloste “kicked” out a family from the shop after their kids threw a tantrum for having to share one scoop of ice cream amongst themselves. “Adelle’s Cafe — do not support. “Absolutely disgusting. Don’t support this business,” she wrote. In the background, a child’s cry was heard.
Defending his action, the gelateria’s co-owner claimed that the mother of the four children failed to analyse the whole situation which involved her kids crying and throwing a fit for over 15 minutes continuously. He added that after the kids learned that they had to share one ice cream scoop amongst each other, “one of the children swiped decorations from the counter and threw a steel flask on the tile floor.” “For approximately 15 minutes the children were crying and screaming, disturbing the other clientele trying to enjoy their meals and the ambiance of the cafe,” continued the owner.
When the cafe owner asked the family to leave the premises politely and apologised for the same, the father became defensive and refused to leave. The owner then threatened to call the police if they did not depart.
According to a report in Daily Mail, social media users were quick to defend the owner’s actions, with one person saying that they would have “done the same thing”. Another claimed that the duty of responsible parents was to teach their children “how to behave and show respect for others or remove them from annoying others”.
