Angkit Joshi became an Uber driver after leaving his corporate job as a business developer.

An Uber driver from Delhi-NCR, named Angkit Joshi, has created a massive social media following, thanks to his interesting and insightful interactions with his customers. Joshi started cab driving after giving up his corporate job as a business developer. Today his Instagram bio says, “Trading Suits for streets, Corporate Escapee”. Joshi’s videos often garner thousands of likes.

The 28-year-old told Hindustan Times that he took up cab driving after he felt “exhausted from the corporate life”. His agenda was never to have a social media following but somehow “going viral just happened by chance.”

However, being a cab driver is no easy feat, especially considering that Joshi made this transition from a corporate life. While speaking to Hindustan Times, he said, “I used to be referred to as sir earlier, now I call everyone sir or ma’am. Sometimes cops, parking attendants, and even other drivers are often rude to me. I even face trolling on Instagram. People comment saying, ‘Hai toh tu driver hi’, but, I’ve learned to let it go.”

Joshi also said that initially, he worried about how his family would feel about him being a driver but he is very grateful to have family that supports him. He said, “I used to worry thinking that my father’s colleagues have their children in high corporate positions, so how would he introduce me as a cab driver to people? But, when I told my family about my decision to quit my job of a business developer, they were, in fact, very supportive. And now that my content is making headlines, my father is quite proud of me.”

Despite getting much success and love on social media, Joshi is very cautious about suggesting people give up their well-paying jobs. He suggested, “Some people message me saying that they want to be like me. But please don’t follow my trajectory just by looking at my social media. My income has drastically gone down since I left my job. I have savings from my previous stint and can rely on my family if the need be. My future plan is to set up a travel company. If others don’t have a solid plan or the time and resources, they won’t be able to make the cut.”
