Eagles are among the world’s most majestic birds. They are known for their ability to fly high with incredible speed and their sharp eyesight that spots prey from miles in the sky. Now a video that shows the pointed hunting skills of an eagle is raking in likes. Actor Will Smith shared a video on Instagram that showed an eagle swooping over a waterbody and clutching a fish within its claws.
As the scavenger bird takes the plunge, it quickly pops the fish and gobbles it in one go. This hunting was shot in high definition and posted in slow motion, which highlighted the unique physiology of the eagle.
Will Smith simply captioned this video as “incredible”. He also tagged photographer Mark Smith who took the clip. In less than a day, this post has gathered over 2.4 lakh likes. An Instagram user commented on it, “Agility, Stealth, Keen eyes and Precision. One of God’s amazing creations.” Another person wrote, “That eagle picked that fish up like it was the last piece of meat on the grill.” Someone else observed, “Wow!!!! Look at the size of his feet and claws!!! Just a reminder to never underestimate the power of anything or anyone, including yourself.”
After this video went viral, photographer Mark Smith shared a close-up photo from the above-mentioned video. The photo showed the eagle holding the prey in its beak while mid-flight. It appears the eagle in the photo and the now-viral clip is a bald eagle with brown plumage, white head and tail, and a yellow beak.
Mark Smith captioned the post, “Who here is glad they aren’t a fish? I know I am but “glad I’m not a fish” jokes aside, look at that total beast of a bird. Savage and undeniably beautiful at the same time. Such a great embodiment of nature, the duality of life and death all rolled up in a massive form of flight, feathers and talons.”
An Instagram user commented, “A magnificent bird and a magnificent shot!” Another person wrote, “Mark, What an incredible image. Yeah, glad I am not a fish. Eagles are one of nature’s pride and joyous achievements. Per my husband, Scientists believe that birds evolved from a specific kind of dinosaur called Theropods. My husband is a biologist and we have bird guidebooks and posters all over the house. Love to follow your posts. That little fish had no idea what hit him luckily.”
