Rs 63 Lakh From Dumpster Diving? US Woman Shares Her Secrets
Tiffany Butler, from Texas, allegedly made over $80,000 (Rs 67 lakh approx) in the last two years.

A Texas mom has come forward to share her unusual profession – full-time dumpster diving. Tiffany Butler has made a staggering $80,000 (Rs 63.77 lakh) by rummaging through dumpsters and reselling her finds online. Butler, who dumpster dives at least twice or thrice a week, told ‘What’s The Jam’ that her success is largely based on luck. “You never know when stores are going to toss stuff – it’s really just all about luck,” she said.

Butler posted a video on TikTok showing how she discovered nine New Balance sneakers, T-shirts, socks and water bottles. These were brand-new, tag-attached products that were thrown in the trash, revealed the NY Post.

Butler allegedly made over $80,000 (over Rs 67 lakh) in the last two years, and she regularly wears gloves while collecting her treasures.

It is worth noting that dumpster diving is legal in all states of the US, as per nearU.pro. But, if you disregard warning signs, enter private property without permission, break the dumpster lock, or act in an unruly manner, it may turn into an offence.

Meanwhile, Butler continues to exercise caution when it comes to which dumpsters she scales, preferring the trash cans behind higher-end businesses.

She has spent over eight years searching through dumpsters and has discovered practically anything imaginable.

“If you can name it, I’ve probably found it,” she stated.

When Butler goes looking for things she can sell, she picks a wide variety of items out of the discards. It might be anything from electronic devices to completely proper objects that have been abandoned. She tried a spot once where she had never found anything before and discovered a whole bag full of shoes. These were allegedly well-maintained enough to be sold for around $100 (over Rs 8000) a pair at retail.

A user was quoted by the NY Post commenting on Butler’s TikTok video stating, “This is so stupid of the stores to toss things like this, especially when people are struggling to buy necessities.”

“I’m glad you’re salvaging these things,” another user reportedly said.
