Pakistanis Dig Up Irfan Pathan's 'Padosiyo' Post After India Lose First Test Against England
Pakistanis troll Irfan Pathan with age-old 'padosiyon' post after India loses first Test match against England on Sunday.

Any Sunday when India finds itself on the losing end of a game, it’s always Irfan Pathan who finds himself in the crosshairs. For ardent cricket fans and social media aficionados, the ex-Indian cricketer’s ‘padosiyon’ tweet (now a post) is a recurring spectacle. Each time India faces a defeat Pakistanis spare no effort in resurfacing his ancient tweet to taunt him and the Indian team repeatedly. So, when India faced defeat in the first Test match against England recently, this familiar narrative flooded our feeds once more.

The ubiquitous phrase “Padosiyon Sunday kesa raha” reverberated across ‘X’ after England clinched victory against India by 28 runs in the first Test held in Hyderabad. Pakistanis couldn’t resist recreating Irfan’s 2022 troll, crafted when India triumphed over Pakistan in the intense T20 World Cup match. Despite Pathan’s sly jab at his neighbours, little did he anticipate that his jest would become an enduring memory, resurfacing every time Team India faltered against any opponent over the weekend.

As per tradition, this episode was ruthless, and the aftermath was a spectacle to behold!

Meanwhile, Irfan, known for being vocal both on and off the cricket field, has often retaliated against trolls. However, as of the time this article was published, there’s been no update from the 39-year-old cricketer. His latest post praised Ollie Pope, whose spectacular 196 runs gave England the upper hand in the ongoing five-match Test series against India.

“England showcased exceptional cricket to secure the win. Ollie Pope’s triumph on Indian soil will echo for years. “I won’t complain even if the pitch turn from ball 1” this attitude made him dangerous. #INDvENG,” he wrote.

Yet, this wasn’t the case the last time when Pakistani fans unleashed an onslaught on Pathan following the same old tweet after Pakistan A triumphed over India A in the Emerging Asia Cup 2023 final. Irfan hit back, writing, “Ek Sunday ke tweet ko abhi Tak Bhul nahi paae ho. Kitne velle ho? #padosi.”

So, while for Pakistanis, Sunday Sundayed like any other Sunday (when India faces defeat), for Irfan, it was just another déjà vu moment, wasn’t it?
