West Bengal's Bankura University Starts Registration Process For PhD Courses
To be eligible, the applicant must be a graduate in the relevant subject with at least 55 per cent marks.

Bankura University has invited online applications from eligible candidates for admission to the programme for the academic year 2022-2023. Earlier, the institution published an official notification on January 18 informing about the same. Interested candidates can apply online at www.bankurauniv.ac.in, which is the university’s official website. It is important to note that the application process started on January 18 and the deadline for submitting the application form is February 1.

This PhD programme is being organised by the university, offering PhD opportunities in several departments such as Bengali, Botany, Education, English, Physics, Political Science, Law, Chemistry, Geography, History, Mathematics, Sanskrit, and Social work. The breakdown of seats according to the aforementioned departments is provided below:

Bengali: 35

Mathematics: 26

Chemistry: 20

English: 19

History: 14

Sanskrit: 9

Botany: 6

Law: 6

Physics: 6

Political Science: 5

Geography: 4

Social Work: 2

Education: 1

Bankura University Admissions: Educational Qualification

To be eligible, the applicant must be a graduate in the relevant subject with at least 55 per cent marks. Reserved candidates can apply if they get 50 per cent marks.

In addition to that, the university may admit students who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test (UGC-CSIR NET), Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) and similar National level tests based on an interview/ viva-voce.

Moreover, the university may admit students through a Research Eligibility Test conducted through the Doctoral Committee of the respective Departments. The Research Eligibility Test syllabus shall consist of 50 per cent of Research Methodology and 50 per cent shall be subject-specific. It is to be noted that students who secure 50 per cent marks in the Entrance Test will be called for an interview.

Bankura University Admissions: Application Fee

Interested candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Person with Disabilities (PwD) category are required to pay an application fee of Rs 800 at the time of registration, whereas candidates falling under the unreserved and Other Backward Class (OBC) categories have to deposit Rs 1000 as application fee.
