Anand Mahindra’s Reply To ‘Your Cars Can't Compete With Japanese Or Americans’ Post Is Everything
Anand Mahindra’s reaction to a tweet stating that his cars “can't compete with Japanese or Americans in their own land” has gone viral.

Anand Mahindra, the business tycoon, has an active social media presence. He recently resorted to social media to respond to criticism over Mahindra automobiles’ competitiveness in global markets. The discussion started when a user voiced doubt, claiming that Mahindra ‘can’t compete with Japanese or Americans in their land.’ Mahindra’s confident and determined answer has received a great deal of attention online.

The conversation began with Anand Mahindra’s introduction of the new Mahindra XUV 3XO. A user responded by criticising Mahindra’s competitiveness in global markets. “Enjoy import substitution policies while they last. Mahindra will disappear as tariffs get reduced. Trash cars”.

Mahindra acknowledged the scepticism, but also highlighted the company’s resilience and will to succeed in a competitive environment.

The industrialist said, “Thank you for your scepticism. It only fuels the fire in our bellies. I was told exactly the same thing when I joined the company in 1991. Global consultants advised us to exit the industry”.

He continued, saying that when Toyota and other multinational behemoths in the UV sector entered India, they were warned of the same thing. “But we’re still around.”

He stated that every day is a battle for existence, which they cherish. He went on to say that they aim to remain around for the next 100 years, fighting every day for consumer approval.

The post had 1 million views on X (formerly Twitter) at the time of reporting. Users in the comments section approved Mahindra’s approach to the situation.

A user commented, “Statesmanship at display in response. Loved it.” The user went on to remark that those who are unfamiliar with the struggles of domestic manufacturing will only make such comments. He went on to explain that with an average of 30k components and quick indigenization, India would soon outpace these brands. He believes the XUV700 is a world-class vehicle that is well-suited to Indian conditions and priced competitively.

Another user said, “With the Vision & foresight of Mahindra and the company, am 100% sure that it will continue to make the impact for another 10s of 100 years, at the minimum!!”

Meanwhile, a third user stated, “Inspiring reply Sir. You have indeed taught the kid some life lessons.”

Most people praised Mahindra for his vision and statesmanship.
