New Delhi: Microsoft, which has been running its digital assistant Cortana on Windows Phone-based smartphone for almost a year now, is now planning to bring the 'personal assistant' to Android and iOS devices, reports Reuters.
According to the report, the company will first bring Cortana to the desktop with the release of its next version of Windows OS, Windows 10 later this year. Following the release of its year-old personal assistant for the desktop, the company will make it available as a standalone app for Android and iOS devices.
The Cortana service that rivals Apple's Siri can take verbal instructions to search the Web, set alarms, make calls and a host of other actions.
Microsoft has been working hard on speech recognition technology for years.
