'It's Apple that copies us': HTC executive reacts after latest One A9 smartphone called iPhone 6s clone
The statement comes after various striking similarities were noticed in terms of antenna design on back cover and protruding rear camera of One A9 with that of the newest iPhone 6s.

New Delhi: As soon as the HTC One A9 was revealed, many found its design heavily inspired by the metal design of Apple iPhones . However, the company’s senior executive strongly defends that it isn’t HTC which has copied the design and in fact, it is Apple who borrows the idea from the Taiwanese company.

President of HTC North Asia, Jack Tong said at a press briefing at the Taiwan launch of One A9, "We're not copying. We made a uni-body metal-clad phone in 2013. It's Apple that copies us in terms of the antenna design on the back," WantChinaTimes notes.

He further argues that the design breakthrough in radio signals for a metal-clad phone were introduced with the One M7 that was launched back in 2013.

"The A9 is made thinner and more lightweight than our previous metal-clad phones. This is a change and evolution, and we're not copying," he said.

The statement comes after various reviewers called the antenna design on back cover and protruding rear camera on One A9 similar to that of the newest iPhone 6s.

The HTC One A9 is the first smartphone outside the Nexus brand to come pre-installed with the latest Android Marshmallow.

It features a multi-directional fingerprint scanner, a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display and is powered by a 64-bit Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset coupled with 3 GB RAM. The phone draws its juice from a 2150 mAh battery with a Quick Charge 2.0 support.
