The edge sensor in the HTC U will allow users to open apps and function just by simply swiping, squeezing or tapping the metal edges of the phone.

HTC today rolled out a teaser of their upcoming flagship smartphone, HTC U on twitter. With the official tweet, HTC also announced the release date of the smartphone with the tagline "Squeeze for the Brilliant U". The smartphone will be unveiled on May 16.

The teaser confirmed the edge sensor in the HTC U, the feature will allow users to open apps and function just by simply swiping, squeezing or tapping the metal edges of the phone. As per a report, HTC’s new flagship might ditch the 3.5 mm headphone jack.

It is rumored that HTC U, will be powered by the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with either 4GB and 6GB of RAM options. The new handset might be a selfie-focused smartphone, as it is rumored that it will feature a 16 MP front-facing camera and a 12 MP rear camera. With 3000 mAh battery, the phone is expected to offer 64GB and 128GB internal storage options depending on the RAM.
