Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's Townhall Q&A at IIT-Delhi today
Mark Zuckerberg's Townhall Q&A is expected to begin at 12 noon and IBNLive will cover the event live.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is in India for a Townhall Q&A at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. The Q&A session will be attended by around around 900 students and other invitees.

Zuckerberg also visited the Taj Mahal in Agra and described it as "even more stunning" than he had expected.

India has the largest number of Facebook users outside the US and Zuckerberg seeks to deepen his company's links with the country. He is also expected to push for his pet Internet.org initiative, that has met with resistance in India.

According to the latest figures, Facebook has about 137 million users in India, second only to the US with 194 million. The majority of Facebook users in India are male (104 million), whereas in the US female users (103 million) outnumber male users (89 million).

India has over 302 million Internet subscribers (TRAI, March 2015) much of it is still remains unexplored for Facebook. Facebook is banned in the world's largest Internet market - China.

Facebook is also launching a new initiative for its employees called "2G Tuesdays" to give them an idea of how it is to use Facebook on slow-Internet speeds prevalent in markets such as India.

Before coming to India, Zuckerberg on Monday delivered a 20-minute speech in Mandarin at Tsinghua University in China. The young billionaire, who is married to Chinese-American Priscilla Chan, had set himself the goal of learning Mandarin in 2010.
