New Delhi: Both Google and Apple are vying to make their products even more ubiquitous by transplanting much of their mobile technology into automobiles and Internet-connected televisions and appliances.
Google hopes to play a prominent role in the management of home security and appliances with a new operating system called Brillo that will interact with Android devices. The new operating system, Brillo, was announced at the company's I/O 2015 conference.
"Brillo extends the Android platform to all your connected devices, so they are easy to set up and work seamlessly with each other and your smartphone," says Google. A developer preview of the Brillo OS is coming in Q3 of this year.
At its annual Google developers conference, Google also offered a preview of Android M, due for release later this year, with an upgraded version of "Google Now," the voice-activated assistant which competes with rivals like Apple's Siri and Microsoft's Cortana.
