New Delhi: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is all set to take on BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's turf as he heads to south Gujarat for a public rally on Saturday.
The Gandhi scion is on a day-long visit to Bardoli in south Gujarat where he will take part in a 'padayatra' organized by Youth Congress wing.
He will also address a rally later on.
Rahul's rally in Gujarat would be interesting to watch as the junior Gandhi is expected to take on Chief Minister Modi on his own land.
Modi during his last rally in Meerut had took on Gandhi family head on with his jibe at party president Sonia Gandhi's 'field for poison' remark.
Modi said that if power was poison then Gandhi family has been in power for long and has been spewing all the poison.
Rahul's Gujarat rally also comes after his infamous interview to a television news channel where he hit out at Modi for the 2002 riots in Gujarat. "He was the Chief Minister when the Gujarat riots happened. The government in Gujarat was actually abetting and pushing the riots further," Rahul had said.
On asking how he could attack Modi on the Gujarat riots, Gandhi said, "it is not me. It is a large number of people who saw actively the government of Gujarat being involved in the riots. "I mean, people saw it. I am not the person who saw it. Your colleagues saw it. Your colleagues told me. They saw the administration actively attacking the minorities."
When asked during the interview if he was avoiding a direct face-off with Modi by not becoming the Prime Ministerial candidate of the Congress, Rahul evaded the question and said, "to understand that question, you have to understand a little bit, who Rahul Gandhi is and you get an answer to the question to what Rahul Gandhi is scared of and not scared of."
