Political Opposition to GST Bill Is a Suicide: Prime Minister Modi
"I am an optimist. I believe more in lifelines", PM Modi said regarding the Goods and Services Tax Bill

Ahead of the high profile cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held an informal interaction with journalists from multiple newspapers where he declared that political opposition to GST bill is a suicide.

"Political opposition to GST bill is suicide. I am an optimist. I believe more in lifelines", PM Modi said regarding the Goods and Services Tax Bill that has been stuck in Parliament owing to the Congress Party's disapproval of the final draft presented by the government.

Addressing a host of issues regarding his 25-month-old cabinet, PM Modi spoke on corruption, general elections, on a 2nd term, job growth and media opinion.

On Corruption - There was a general feeling that corruption couldn't be removed. If this has happened, then many other changes can also happen.

On Elections - Government's work comes to a standstill during polls, many want Lok Sabha and Vidhan sabha polls simultaneously.

On prospects of becoming PM for a second time - In 2019, when my first term ends, success would mean that without my claiming things, people should experience change.

On Job growth during his first term - Apart from public and private sectors, I have now created personal sector jobs.

On Media opinion - In 2014, a section of the media hoped we would not win, my regret is I haven't been able to convince that section
