Petrol price hike: TMC MPs to meet PM on Nov 8
West Bengal CM and TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee had earlier threatened to withdraw from the UPA Govt over the issue.

New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday to register their protest over the recent petrol price hike.

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee had earlier threatened to withdraw from the UPA government over the issue.

But the Prime Minister virtually ruled out a rollback, even advocating further deregulation of petroleum products.

Oil companies brought yet another steep hike in petrol price, by Rs 1.80 per litre with effect from November 3 midnight making life more difficult for the aam aadmi.

This is the fifth increase since December 2010 coming on top of falling rupee and rising cost of imported crude.
