Artists and filmmakers led by actor Anupam Kher and accompanied by Madhur Bhandarkar and Birju Maharaj are marching towards the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a drill to counter to the 'Intolerance' debate.
Kher has slammed the directors who returned their awards calling them agenda-driven. He claimed that they want to send a message that India is tolerant and united.
"We have been gaining support from across country for our cause. We are doing this out of love for the country and we want to send out a message that India is tolerant. We don't believe in pseudo-secularism, selective outrage. Rather people should speak about the problems rather than returning awards," he said.
Protestors will march on to the Rashtrapati Bhavan and are expected to meet the President at 1 pm.
Filmmakers Kundan Shah and Saeed Mirza are the latest ones to join the bandwagon to return their awards protesting what they call rising intolerance in the country.
Kher had also requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be an audience to share with him the thoughts of "millions of Indians". "Dear PM @narendramodi Ji. Please give us time tomorrow to share with you the thoughts of millions of Indians all over the world. #IndiaIsTolerant," the actor and BJP supporter posted on Friday.
Anupam had shared on Twitter that "due to overwhelming response", the location of 'March For India' had been shifted from India Gate to National Museum, Janpath.
