New Delhi: The Centre is not planning to shift out Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra, top sources in the Government said on Wednesday, putting to rest speculation on an immediate change of guard in the strife-hit state.

"There is no question of changing the governor right now. An all-party delegation is scheduled to visit Kashmir and focus of the government is currently there," the source told CNN-News18.

It was speculated that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had told Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his recent visit to the Valley that Governor Vohra was part of the problem and sought his removal. Reports said she repeated the request when she met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the capital.

Former home secretary Anil Baijal was reportedly the front runner for the post of JK governor. Other names that were doing the rounds for the job were former Uttarakhand CM BC Khanduri ,and Lt Gen (retd) Syed Ata Hasnain, who earlier commanded an Army Corps in J&K.
