Narendra Modi silent over PM calling him a 'disaster for the country'
Modi said the country needs intentions rather than hollow promises.

New Delhi: Even as Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi attacked the Congress during the foundation day celebrations of yoga guru Ramdev's Bharat Swabhiman Trust in New Delhi Talkatora Stadium but he chose to remain silent on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh calling him a disaster for the country.

Modi said the country needs intentions rather than hollow promises and added that he has no desire of any post.

The people attending the celebrations expected Modi to reply to Manmohan Singh's statement on him when the Prime Minister said "it will be a disaster for the country if such a person (Modi) became the Prime Minister of India".

"Without going into the credentials of anyone, I think it will be disastrous for the country to have Narendra Modi as the PM," Singh said at his second press conference with media in his second tenure on Friday.

He also took a dig at Modi over Gujarat riots saying, "Strong leader does not mean you preside over the mass massacre of people in Ahmedabad." This is the first time that Singh has taken such a tough stand against Gujarat Chief Minister, who has gone overboard many times while taking on the Prime Minister and his performance.
