Amid the ongoing battle between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and the Centre, Delhi Police commissioner BS Bassi has hit out at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of spreading lies.
Refuting AAP allegations of Delhi Police indulging in politics, Bassi said that the police force "is not into any politics".
The Delhi Police commissioner further dismissed Kejriwal's allegations, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not interfere in Delhi affairs.
"I can understand the anxiety of a democratically elected government in Delhi that it would like to have full authority," said Bassi in an exclusive interview with CNN-IBN.
When asked about the recent 'thulla' remark of Kejriwal, the Delhi Police chief said that they had been "trained to ignore" any such issue. Denying any impact of the Chief Minister's remark on Delhi Police personnel, Bassi said, "It has not affected our morale at all."
Reacting to the statement, senior AAP leader Ashutosh said "Do you expect a senior officer to speak the truth? A very senior Cabinet minister is giving instructions to Bassi."
