Cong tries to woo voters in crisis-hit Karnataka
Party spokesperson Manish Tewari says the Congress is the only party which can put the state on growth trajectory.

New Delhi: As crisis hit ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hard in Karnataka with its nine ministers resigning, the Congress on Saturday reminded voters in the state of the "legacy of corruption and instability" of the BJP government in the state ahead of assembly polls early next year.

"The legacy of four-and-half-year BJP rule in Karnataka has been systemic corruption, instability and a game of glass and mirros. We hope that when Karnataka goes to polls early next year, this entire legacy will be kept in mind by the people of Karnataka," party spokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters.

Tewari said the Congress is the only party which can put the state on growth trajectory and appealed to people to bring his party to power in the next assembly elections.

The Congress spokesperson's remarks came on a day when the crisis in the BJP government in Karnataka on Saturday reached a flash point with nine ministers loyal to state party strongman B S Yeddyurappa resigning and bracing for a show of strength in their campaign for ousting Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda.

In a critical turn to the festering crisis, eight ministers met Gowda and handed over their resignation letters, seeking to put pressure on the BJP central leadership which has so far refused to entertain their demand.
