New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress on Thursday moved a privilege motion against chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in the West Bengal Assembly for allegedly making contradictory statements on land acquisition.
Leader of the opposition and Trinamool Congress member Partha Chatterjee alleged that Bhattacharjee had deliberately submitted contradictory information about the records of land acquisition at Singur to mislead the house.
While stating that "the misleading information had lowered the dignity of the house", Chatterjee urged Speaker H A Halim to give a ruling on the issue.
The Speaker, however, said that he would give a ruling on the privilege motion on Friday.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee demanded Bhattacharjee's resignation on Thursday. The demand came after chief minister’s statement accepting responsibility for his government’s “lapses” in Nandigram.
