TVS recently launched its new bike Apache RTR 310 which is a flagship model in the 310cc range. It has been priced at Rs 2.43 lakh (ex-showroom). Both the Apache RR and RTR models have been developed in collaboration with BMW Motorrad.
By introducing the 310cc RTR model, TVS aims to boost the sales of Apache motorcycles across the Indian market. In a bid to achieve the goal, the automaker has reportedly made an investment of Rs 50 Crore. The company currently sells 6000 to 7000 units of the Apache model in India.
TVS also aims to capture the 310 cc motorbike markets in other parts of the world like Latin America, ASEAN countries and Europe. They are chasing a deadline of FY25 to reach the target. According to a report by Autocar India, TVS will be aiming for a sale of around 25,000 units of these 310cc bikes in the first year.
The reason for TVS’ move to expand the Apache brand name in the market is the rapid growth which has seen sales of around 1.8 million units globally. The company’s sales have seen a massive surge over the past 5 years. The numbers have increased significantly during this period, from 15 percent to 21 percent. In the fiscal year of 2023, TVS’ sales rocketed to more than 9.1 lakh units. This was 2 lakh more than last year, making its growth rate 29 percent.
TVS Apache RTR 310 deliveries will start by the end of September in India. Soon after that, the company is planning to start the export of these bikes overseas. TVS will initially be targeting markets like Thailand and other Southeast regions. In addition to that, the company will also be targeting to export bikes to parts of Latin America and Europe by the end of the fiscal year of 2025.
It has also been reported that TVS will be looking for new retail partners and exploring new possible places through which they can increase the sales of the new models and expand their brand. The Director and CEO of the company, KN Radhakrishnan informed at the launch of the bike that they will continue with their premium retailers for now but in the future the company will see changes and they will look for new opportunities and new channels for its consumers.
