The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed a charge sheet against two more accused persons in the CPI (Maoist) terror financing network case, relating to the banned terror outfit’s efforts to revive Naxal activities in Bihar’s Magadh.
The second Supplementary charge sheet was filed before the NIA Special Court in Jharkhand’s Ranchi against Vijay Kumar Arya alias Vijay Arya alias Dilip and Anand Paswan alias Anandi Paswan, both residents of Bihar. Both Vijay and Anand have been charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 120 (B).
Vijay’s additional charges relate to (r/w) Sections 13, 18, 20, 38 and 89 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA) and those against Anand relate to Section 39 of UAPA and Section 25 (1B)(a) of Arms Act.
The terror funding network connected with the case — RC-05/2021/NIA-RNC — was being operated by the cadres and OGWs (over ground workers) of the banned CPI (Maoist) in the Magadh region.
The NIA registered the case suo moto on December 30, 2021, wherein so far, five accused persons — Tarun Kumar, Pradyuman Sharma, Abhinav alias Gaurav, Anandi Paswan and Vijay Kumar Arya — have been arrested.
The first three accused arrested in the case were chargesheeted on January 20 and June 28 this year.
As part of their sinister conspiracy, the accused were involved in collecting funds for procuring arms and ammunition, and for recruiting new cadres in collaboration with imprisoned Naxals and OGWs lodged in several jails.
Investigations revealed that Vijay Kumar Arya was a central committee member of the CPI (Maoist) while Anandi Paswan was a key supporter and ex-cadre of the banned organisation.
Vijay was found to be involved in motivating ex-cadres and working as a channel between the operatives and other stakeholders of the banned outfit in the Magadh zone in Jharkhand and Bihar. On the other hand, Anandi Paswan was in possession of arms and ammunition.
