Legendary India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has filed a case against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwash of Aarka Sports and Management Limited on January 5 at a court in Ranchi. Dhoni filed a lawsuit against Mihir and Soumya for financial fraud of over INR 15 crore.

According to reports, the duo signed an agreement with Dhoni in 2017 to establish a cricket academy globally. However, the management failed to adhere to the stipulated conditions as Dhoni decided to discard the agreement in 2021.

Aarka Sports and Management Limited is obligated to pay a franchise fee and share profits as per the agreement’s terms which are not met yet.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has been represented by Dayanand Singh through Vidhi Associates who has stated that they were deceived and cheated by Aarka Sports, and have sued the firm for a fraud of over INR 15 crore.

Recently, the BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has confirmed that the Indian cricket board has decided to retire legendary India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s No.7 jersey. The BCCI took the big decision to honour the 2011 World Cup-winning captain’s contribution to Indian cricket.

Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020 as he last played for India in 2019 in the ODI WC semi-final against New Zealand. Since his retirement, no other player has worn the No.7 shirt since then.

“He is a legendary player. His contribution to Indian as well as world cricket is immense. To honour his contribution, the decision to retire number seven has been taken by the BCCI,” Shukla told PTI.

Dhoni will be seen in the next season of IPL as Chennai Super Kings have retained him for the mega tournament after he guided them to the fifth IPL title last year.

The wicket-keeper batter was struggling throughout last season with a knee injury and also underwent surgery after the winning fifth IPL title.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan recently told ANI, “He has recovered well (from his knee injury). He is undergoing his rehab programmes, started training. By the time the next IPL starts, I am sure he will be fit to play.”
