The Indian government is upset with Afghanistan’s ambassador to New Delhi, Farid Mamundzay, sources told CNN-News18 on Tuesday.
Farid’s role has been under the scanner for some time, they added.
The envoy has allegedly been trying to create a rift between the Indian government and Afghanistan’s Taliban regime.
“Though we have not recognised the Taliban so far, activities of Farid are sufficient to create tensions between India and the Taliban,” said an official.
Sources say the envoy has brought some leaders from the erstwhile Ashraf Ghani government to India and wants to show the Taliban that India is cultivating these leaders.
Farid’s appointment was delayed by the Indian government initially due to his close proximity to the Pakistani establishment, said officials.
