Delhi Excise Policy Case: AAP MP Sanjay Singh Summoned to Appear Before Court on Dec 21
Singh was arrested by the ED on October 4 in connection with its money laundering probe linked to the 2021-22 Delhi Excise policy case

A Delhi Court on Monday took cognizance of fresh charge sheet filed against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh in the Delhi excise policy case.

Special CBI Judge MK Nagpal has issues production warrants to summon Singh. The AAP leader will appear before the court on December 21.

Last week, Special Judge Nagpal reserved his order on Singh’s bail plea application for December 21 after hearing arguments put forth by the counsel for Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP, as well as the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The court had also directed the ED to file written submissions, if any, within two days. It also directed the counsel appearing for Singh to file rejoinder within a day thereafter.

Early this month, the ED filed a charge sheet against AAP MP Sanjay Singh in the excise policy case. This was a supplementary charge sheet in this case as the agency had filed about give such complaints earlier.

The prosecution complaint was filed before a local court under various sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in the money laundering case attached to the Delhi excise policy case.

The anti-corruption agency had alleged that an accused businessman — Dinesh Arora — gave Rs 2 crore in cash at the Rajya Sabha MP’s residence in two instalments, however these allegations were vehemently refused by Singh.

Singh was arrested by the ED on October 4 in connection with its money laundering probe linked to the 2021-22 Delhi Excise policy case.

The ED has alleged that Singh played a key role in the formulation and implementation of the now- scrapped excise policy, which benefited certain liquor manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, for monetary considerations.

He was the second high-profile leader after Manish Sisodia, former deputy chief minister, to be held in this case.
