When Tim Cook took over as the CEO of Apple in 2011, it was said to be one such corporate transaction unlike any other. Stepping out from the shadow of one of the best-known American CEOs, he took on the reign of the world’s biggest tech company, however, amid concerns about how successful it would be. Over years into the job, Tim Cook now presently leads the most valuable company with billions of people using its devices and millions of developers already building businesses on its software platforms.
It was on August 24, 2011 when Cook took over as the CEO from Steve Jobs, less than 2 months before the Apple founder passed away. Since then, Apple’s market capitalisation has only seen growth to nearly $2.5 trillion with its annual revenue also being doubled. Besides expanding its business, Cook has also changed the way the company functions.
With that said, an X user recently shared two pictures, one of the former Apple founder and the other of Tim Cook, sharing how the company has been working differently under the latter.
X post shares how Apple is working differently under Cook
The post shared on the X handle of Sherman McCoy includes two pictures. While one of them shows Cook from Apple’s current office, another one is of Steve Jobs, which was seemingly taken at his California house on 7 December 7 2004 for Time Magazine. “Steve Jobs’s office versus Tim Cook’s office I think this says a lot about why Apple “feels” different under Cook,” the post’s caption read.

The post went immediately viral, with many coming forward to share their views and opinions in the same regard. A user wrote, “Apple are a lot safer than they used to be, which is a shame. The edges have been smoothed off, but then they’re a $3tn company. Corporate governance is king. That said, not sure about this take. SJ’s office at Infinite Loop wasn’t much better,” while another one commented, “I mean to be fair, the digitization of books made offices more minimalistic.”
A user also gave details about the pictures and wrote, “The one on the left is Job’s HOME office, at his former residence in Palo Alto the one on the right is clearly in an Apple office building.”
A user shared his views on how Jobs and Cook had been handling Apple and wrote, “If you ever think about why Apple doesn’t have that same magic…Tim Cook came from operations, he’s vital to a company because he knows how to make money, but Steve Jobs was the soul of Apple, he had a vision for products. To be fair to Tim Cook, he’s good at what he does.”
