Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s much-anticipated Stree 2 has taken the box office by storm, racking up over 100,000 advance tickets in just 48 hours. The film has already sold 124,402 tickets for its opening day, earning a whopping Rs 4.09 crore, as per Sacnilk.com. Set to hit theaters on August 14, Stree 2 is generating massive buzz with its night shows starting at 9:30 PM, according to Maddock Films. With these strong advance sales, Stree 2 is looking like a huge hit.

In stark contrast, Khel Khel Mein, starring Akshay Kumar, is lagging behind with just 2,042 tickets sold, pulling in only Rs 8.74 lakh, as per Sacnilk. This is another blow for Akshay, whose recent release, Sarfira, also tanked at the box office. Meanwhile, John Abraham’s Vedaa has managed to sell 5,969 tickets, earning Rs 18.07 lakh in advance bookings. Tamil star Vikram’s Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, and Telugu film Double iSmart, starring Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt, will also be released on Independence Day.

Stree 2 is already setting records with its advance bookings. It’s on track to beat Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter by Monday night, and could even surpass Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki by Tuesday. By Wednesday, it might beat the advance sales of Brahmastra and Tiger 3, which sold over 300,000 tickets. The original Stree was a blockbuster, and this new film, directed by Amar Kaushik, continues the success of Maddock Films’ Supernatural Universe.

Stree, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, was a major hit in 2018, earning both box office success and critical acclaim. The same cast is back for the sequel, directed by Amar Kaushik. Set in the small town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, the original film tells the story of a malevolent spirit called ‘Stree’ who kidnaps men during the festival season. It draws inspiration from the 1990s urban legend ‘Nale Ba’ that became a sensation in Karnataka.
