In her forthcoming new memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, Sharon Stone looked back on filming her breakout role in one of her most famous film , Basic Instinct. She also opened up about the disturbing experiences she had throughout her career. As the 63-year-old star reflected on the production of the 1992 erotic thriller, she asserted that the entire ordeal was largely difficult for her. An excerpt from her memoir exclusively published by Vanity Fairhad the actress describe the “terrifying” experience, where she called te role "the most stretching that I had ever done."
The producer and former fashion model claimed that a member of the film production asked her to take her underwear off in the highly controversial and now famous cross-legged scene. She discussed how she had no idea that her private area would be exposed as she was led to believe under the pretense that her genitals would not be visible on film. Sharon, who played a crime novelist suspected of murder, flashes what's beneath her dress, uncrossing her leg while sitting on a chair. "That was how I saw my vagina-shot for the first time,"she writes.
“I’d been told, ‘We can’t see anything — I just need you to remove your panties, as the white is reflecting the light, so we know you have panties on,” Stone recalled.
She remembered what happened when she was called to see the final finish of the movie after completing the shooting. Sharon reveals it was “a room full of agents and lawyers, most of whom had nothing to do with the project."
The actress then walked to the projection booth and "slapped" the director Paul Verhoeven "across the face". She left in her car following the screening and called her lawyer, Marty Singer, who informed she could get an injunction. Sharon also mentioned that she was asked to sleep with her co-star to build chemistry on screen. She did not reveal the co-star but her character had sexual relationships with several people.
