Shabana Azmi said that Kartik Aaryan and Kabir Khan have done very good work in Chandu Champion.

Kartik Aaryan is currently basking in the success of his recent film, Chandu Champion. The film takes us through the life of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. Recently, Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar reviewed the film after watching it at a special screening. Shabana Azmi said that she could not stop crying while watching the film.

The veteran actress said, “Main toh ro, ro, ro ke paagal ho gayi. Aur Kartik ka kaam bohot accha tha.” Javed added, “Aur Kabir ka bhi.” Shabana said, “Kabir ka bhi. Bohot dino baad Maine Kabir ki film dekhi…” Watch here:

Recently, Kartik Aaryan left his fans surprised after he paid a visit to one of the theatres screening the film. Kartik also spoke to his fans and shared Murlikant’s reaction to the film.

Kartik said, “Itne saalo se bohot hi minimum logo ko pata thi unki kahani. Aur yeh bohot hi zaroori kahani thi jo poore Bharat ko ya phir international audience tak pohochni chahiye. Murli sir bohot khush hain, main aap logo ko batana chahoonga. Unki kahaani aap tak pohoch rahi hai. I think after 15 years he’s getting his due (Very few people knew of his story for years. It was very important for people in India and even abroad to know his story. I’d like to tell you that Murli sir is very happy. His story is reaching you).”

The film, directed by Kabir Khan, is based on the life of India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, Murlikant Petkar. News18 Showsha has rated Chandu Champion 4/5. Talking about Kartik’s performance in the movie, our reviewer stated, “Kartik has delivered his career-best performance that aptly conveys his character’s inner turbulence, much of it derived from Murli’s childhood bullying and people’s disbelief in his potential. Moreover, it’s the emotional yet rousing finale that will have audiences cheering for Kartik, the star.”

Kartik went through rigorous training to look the part of a freestyle swimmer in the film, which involved reducing his weight from 90 kgs to 72 kgs and his body fat from 39% to 7%. In fact, Kartik recently took to social media to share a viral before-and-after transformation picture of himself that encompassed his journey from an ‘insomniac’ to a ‘fitness enthusiast’. The film has been faring well at the box office and has crossed the Rs 20 crore mark in three days.
